Nokes: Caps-Canes Game 7 preview, Redskins linked to Dwayne Haskins + more

The Washington Capitals are no strangers to Game 7 when it comes to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

But until Game 7 in last year's Eastern Conference Finals against Tampa Bay, the Caps hadn't seen much success in Game 7.

Tonight, the Caps have a very different team standing in front of them and a very different narrative that's following them throughout this year's playoffs. The Carolina Hurricanes are an upstart team that hadn't seen the playoffs in 10 years before this season. Currently, the Canes are playing about as well as any team in the East.

The Capitals vanquished over a decade's worth of demons last season finally winning a Stanley Cup. They have the experience, the talent and the home ice advantage tonight. However, the Caps need to come ready to play tonight or they will get beat by a hungry team.

Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins apparently haven't learned from their past mistakes. Earlier this morning, ESPN's Dianna Russini reported that the Redskins are looking to possibly move up into the top5 of this year's  NFL Draft in the hopes of selecting Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins.

For those Redskins fans hoping the team would trade for Josh Rosen, it doesn't appear that the two franchises are close to getting a deal done:

Let me make this as simple as possible: The Redskins have tried this already. It didn't work.

If you'll remember the 2012 draft, Dan Snyder inexplicably traded away three first round picks and a second round pick so the Redskins could move up to the number two overall slot to take Robert Griffin III. This move set the Redskins back so badly they are still feeling the effects from it here in 2019.

The Redskins have too many holes in their team to fill to move up and take Haskins. If he falls into your lap at the #15 overall pick, great. If not, find a QB in the later rounds or figure something else out.
