Washington DC's plans to tear down RFK Stadium will happen by 2021 according to an EVENTS DC spokesperson.

First reported by The Washington Post, officials said the demolition is “driven by a need to save money” and not to make plans for the Washington Redskins to build a new stadium at the site.

The agency that manages the stadium, claims that it is looking for bids by Oct. 25 from contractors to tear down the building, which costs Washington D.C. $3.5 million in maintenance and utility costs each year.
