The Nationals were down again.

Of course, they were.

That's when the Nationals are at their best.

Doesn't matter if it's 19-31 in May or down 3-1 in the 8th in the Wild Card game or down 3-0 late in LA in Game 5 of the NLDS or down 3-2 in the World Series. When their backs were against the wall this season, the Washington Nationals were at their best.

They did it again Wednesday night trailing 2-0 in Game 7 of the World Series vs Houston.

Max Scherzer kept them in the game efforting through 5 innings giving up 7 hits but only allowing 2 runs while the Astros 5 on the bases in the first 3 innings.

Then they finally woke up the bats and struck with 3 in the 7th.

In one of the biggest upsets in World Series history (Washington was the biggest WS underdog since the 2007 Colorado Rockies), the Nationals pulled off a startling comeback on a season that at 19-31 on May 25th gave them a .1% chance of winning the National League.

But as the National League, the Brewers, Dodgers, and Cardinals quickly found it, it's what the Astros learned over the course of 7 games: the Nationals lived up to their motto #StayintheFight.

Wednesday they lived up to their motto as they #FinishedtheFight.

6-2 Final.

Washington in 7.

The Nationals are World Series Champions.
